-Part One-

Lanzmann

Is dead …

Long

Live

Lanzmann

For as long as there are questions there will always be the inquirer. Then again, for as long as there are inquirers, there will be questions.

Claude Lanzmann lived a long and productive life. He was, to some, the great religio-cultural inquisitor.

Yet. For all of his prolific energy and for all of his ninety years of quest, Lanzmann failed.

Lanzmann never found his grail. The holy answer to the pogrom-filled history of the Jewish people remains, to this day, unfound. It awaits discovery yet.

The question still posed by the nonagenarian until his dying day. Why?

Why?

“The kind of big questions that everyone is asking — why, why did this happen? But there is no answer to the ‘why,’ “ Lanzmann said then. “And I think that the only way to answer the ‘why’ is to go into the most extreme details of the ‘how.’ “

-What If-

Shoah Is Why

?

-Shoah is another term for Holocaust-

The Jews have the most enduring expressive discourse: ancient and modern. In modern times, with the propulsion of History behind their efforts, Jews have endured the most continuous; the most unfettered; the most dogged pursuit of insult and injury to them and theirs.

Ancient. The Jews are hobbled by the greatness reserved to them by their Bible, however. They were/are by divine decree destined and bound to be the “chosen people” and thereby the ones obligated to the faithful display of righteousness and purpose, in the name of… themselves.

*

The sister religion, Christianity, seems constrained by no such demands. Christ Jesus, who is still heartily believed, in His wisdom and purity; tells His faithful to this day, that they are not the chosen but rather the servants of both their God and their brother.

Christian dogma seems disinclined to the nature of personal or cultural superiority let alone the tacit or expressed declaration of such. Christians, if anything, are more the downtrodden of the Judeo-Christian, Believer-brethren. Christianity, by its definition, seems an ethos of humility and humbleness.

*

For what is one to do? When the divine powers that be, are at odds. Where their edicts declaim with certainty and parable that one is chosen and another is destined to comport themselves in perfect compliance with the teachings and aphorisms of a principal tenet that is all of: servitude and supplication.
